Hey all,

Americana is finally embracing design. Joe Gebbia, AirBNB’s co-founder, has been named the United States’ first Chief Design Officer. And now, the world’s largest brand is receiving a much needed facelift. The National Design Studio has been busy pumping out new white papers, websites, brands, et all. I’ve spent days combing government databases so you don’t have to. Below are my top three finds; federally published white papers on AI, crypto, and health.

America’s AI Action Plan

America's 90-initiative strategy to outcompete China in artificial intelligence

President Trump's team dropped "Winning the Race: America's AI Action Plan" in July 2025 after collecting over 10,000 public comments. The document frames AI development as a national security imperative. Whoever builds the largest AI ecosystem sets global standards and reaps economic and military advantages. The administration argues this is comparable to winning the space race. Fail to dominate AI and an authoritarian rival gets to write the rules.

Three pillars structure the entire approach: accelerate innovation, build infrastructure, and lead internationally. The deregulation agenda rolls back restrictions the White House called an "onerous regulatory regime." Federal agencies must now procure AI models that meet two standards: truth-seeking responses based on facts, and ideological neutrality without partisan agenda. NEPA categorical exclusions fast track data centers above 100 MW. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act funds projects but bans Chinese entities from supply chains entirely.

America's Crypto Playbook

How the federal government plans to make the U.S. the crypto capital of the world

Executive Order 14178 launched a 180-day working group that delivered "Strengthening American Leadership in Digital Financial Technology." The context matters. Between 2021 and 2025, hostile regulation drove U.S. blockchain developers from 25% of the global total down to 18%. The previous administration debanked crypto firms through what the report calls Operation Choke Point 2.0. Banks faced examiner pressure to cut ties with anything crypto-related, choking off banking services to an entire industry.

The reversal happened fast. By mid-2025, the Fed, OCC, and FDIC rescinded anti-crypto guidance from 2023. The GENIUS Act passed July 2025 with bipartisan support, creating the first federal stablecoin framework. Issuers need full reserve backing in cash and Treasuries, monthly transparency reports, and federal licensing. Stablecoins under this framework are explicitly neither securities nor commodities. The framework opens the door for mainstream payment adoption while the administration rejects any central bank digital currency as a threat to financial privacy and economic liberty.

Make America Healthy Again

A federal assessment on why American kids are the sickest generation in history

The Make America Healthy Again Commission released its assessment in May 2025 calling today's children the sickest generation in American history. Four drivers get blamed: ultra-processed foods now comprise 70% of children's calories compared to virtually zero a century ago. Environmental chemical exposures from over 40,000 registered substances show up in biomonitoring studies of kids. Sedentary tech-driven lifestyles mean 70% of children fail to meet basic activity guidelines. Overmedicalization has ADHD stimulant prescriptions up 250% since 2006.

The structural critique lands hard on corporate influence. Food industry research spending hits $60 billion annually. Federal nutrition science gets $1.5 billion. Nine of the last ten FDA commissioners joined pharma companies after leaving government. Pharma spent $4.7 billion lobbying from 1999 to 2018, more than any other industry. The report argues profit motives have corrupted policy. A comprehensive strategy document with specific interventions is due within 180 days of the May 2025 release.
